Milan & Turin

The Holy Shroud, Ambrose & the Shrines of Northern Italy

HomePilgrimagesMilan & Turin
Overview

A pilgrimage to Turin to venerate the Holy Shroud and visit the Salesian shrines of Don Bosco, then on to Milan for the relics of St. Ambrose, the Duomo, and the Last Supper of Leonardo da Vinci.

Reflection
Standing before the Holy Shroud — even in its protective case, even knowing all the debates — is a singular experience. The image is inexplicable. A man, crucified, bearing wounds that match the Gospel accounts with forensic precision. Whether or not it is the burial cloth of Christ, it is not nothing. Turin also holds the relics of Don Bosco, whose work with street children in the 19th century still feels urgently modern.
